The Okimau Commemorative Pole - 1999

Okimau loved totem poles. Phil White, a former Staff member from the 80's came to Ponacka in late June 1999, to carve a pole for Okimau. Phil decided to carve Okimau's face and outstretched hand, since Okimau always enjoyed greeting campers and parents with a firm handshake and a look straight in the eye. The saying carved in the lower half of the pole is taken from the dedication plaque on the door to High Flight - written by Okimau in 1975.
